Respected Professional Colleagues,
This is my last communiqué to you as a National President.
As I look back I see that the year 2017 was an eventful year carried with it sweet and sour remembrances. We enjoyed each and every moment of the year. We learnt a lot from the Conferences, Seminars, Executive Meetings and Residential Learning Programme that gave us the sense of satisfaction, sense of pride, sense of brotherhood and above all, the sense of unity and integrity.
Recently, we all attended the National Convention at Jabalpur successfully organised by the Central Zone of the Federation in association with MP Tax Consultants Association and Tax Bar Association, Jabalpur. My heartiest congratulations to our Deputy President-2017 and incoming National President-2018 Shri Ganesh Purohit for the success of this mega event.
We have also elected our new National Executive Committee Members, I congratulate each one of them and wish them a Grand Success for the coming year.
Friends, as we all know, economy of our country is in a transition phase. Our growing economy has given birth to various law reforms; one of them is GST which has thrown various opportunities before the tax professionals. Though there are certain teething problems, the continuous efforts on the part of Government will remove the glitches and smoothen the procedure of filing returns. 23rd Meeting of GST Council held on 9th & 10th November, 2017 has given various reliefs e.g. waiver of late fee, extension of dates, introducing utility for cancellation of registration, extension of due date for filing TRAN-1, filing of GSTR-1 return by tax payers on quarterly basis whose turnover is less than ₹ 1.5 crore and so on. We, the professionals, are committed to unconditionally support the Government for smooth implementation of GST.
As a matter of legal reforms, the Government has constituted a task force in order to review the Income-tax Act and to draft a new Direct Tax Law in consonance with economic needs of the country which shall submit its report to the Government within 6 months. Further, Hon’ble President of India has given his assent to an Ordinance, amending the Insolvency & Bankruptcy Code on 23rd November 2017, barring errant promoters of defaulting companies from regaining control of their assets being sold under the bankruptcy process.
Friends, there is a lot to say. First of all, I would like to thank all the esteemed members of our Federation who gave me their unstinted support, increasing in me the sense of confidence and tolerance. I would like to thank all my Past Presidents and immediate Past President, the guiding stars of the Federation particularly
Mr. P. C. Joshi, who is above the controversies, straightforward and unbiased. I would like to convey my gratitude to Deputy President Mr. Ganesh Purohit, truly ieCesMe peer, efJeIve nlee&, who always stood by me and gave me the valuable support.
I also express my gratitude to all the Vice-Presidents particularly Mr. D. K. Gandhi, who supported me in all odds came during the tenure. I owe my gratitude to Shri Vipul Joshi, the Treasurer, who worked very sincerely and meticulously, always devoted to the work of the Federation. It seems that there is no “NO” word in his dictionary. I express my gratitude to all the Joint Secretaries, who supported me to complete my tenure in a best possible manner.
And above all I express my sincere gratitude to Shri Sanjay Sharma, the Secretary General without whose support I could not have thought my existence as a National President. In fact, he is my soul, my hands, my brain, everything. I visioned, but he executed.
I will be failing in my duties if I do not appreciate the services of our worthy staff Mr. Ravi, Ms. Shweta, Mr. Kalpesh and our Accountant. I recognise their devotion and dedication for the services to the Federation.
Friends at the last, I must confess that we have tried to continue our strong intellectual heritage and the tradition of ethics and excellence. Challenges in this year were much bigger but with your love and affection, we proved ourselves to the best of our abilities.
I express my gratitude to you all for reposing confidence in me. If any lapse is there in discharge of my duties, I seek my apology with all humility at my command.
At the end, I must say in the words of Swami Vivekananda
“Stand-up, Be Bold, Be Strong, take the whole responsibilities on your own shoulders and know that you are the creature of your own destiny. All the strength you want is within yourself. Therefore, make your own future.”
Wishing you Merry Christmas and A Very Happy New Year.
With Warm Regards
Prem Lata Bansal
National President
