President Message

Dear Members and Colleagues,

Warm Greetings from the National President for the Golden Jubilee Year Celebrations!

Dear Members and Colleagues,

I have been observing the geo-political situation over the last 2 weeks. I believe that India provides an ideal environment for investment and prosperity not only to the global investors but also to every citizen of India. India projects itself with its growth narrative by underscoring global endorsement of its vision, market and its position. I believe that we in India enjoy a vibrant ecosystem amidst the global turmoil.

There were several programs on the Budget and allied topics across India conducted by all the zones. To my mind, I must believe that it was an enriching learning experience for the members at large.

Post-Budget Reflections – From Analysis to Implementation

The month of March marks the transition from Budget announcements to professional action. Following the presentation of the Union Budget 2026–27, tax professionals across the country, it appears, are deeply engaged in interpreting amendments, advising stakeholders, restructuring compliance strategies, and preparing for the legislative changes that will unfold in the coming months.

The true test of our profession begins after the applause of the Budget speech fades. It lies in translating statutory amendments into practical guidance, ensuring seamless compliance, safeguarding taxpayer rights, and supporting businesses in adapting to the evolving fiscal landscape. Across the country, study circles, seminars, webinars, workshops, tax conferences and deliberative sessions are being considered under the aegis of the All-India Federation of Tax Practitioners which has once again demonstrated the intellectual depth and responsiveness of our fraternity. The coming financial year will require sharper interpretative skills, increased documentation discipline, and proactive advisory approaches, especially in areas of digital compliance, cross-border taxation, MSME advisory, and litigation management.

AI Summit in India – A Transformational Moment for the Profession:

India recently witnessed a global landmark event in the technological domain with the hosting of the AI Summit, bringing together policymakers, global technology leaders, industry experts, and regulators to deliberate on the future of Artificial Intelligence and its governance frameworks.

The Summit reaffirmed India’s commitment to responsible AI, innovation-led growth, and digital transformation. For tax professionals, this development is not peripheral — it is central to the future of our practice.

Artificial Intelligence is already influencing:

  • Automated scrutiny and risk-based assessments
  • Data mining and analytics in GST and Income Tax systems
  • Predictive compliance frameworks
  • E-invoicing validation and reconciliation systems
  • Litigation analytics and case outcome modelling

As tax administrators increasingly rely on AI-driven tools for risk profiling and compliance monitoring, professionals must correspondingly upgrade their skillsets and professional capabilities. The future tax practitioner must understand, not only the law, but also the algorithms shaping enforcement trends.

This is not a moment of disruption to be feared — it is a moment of transformation to be embraced.

In this Golden Jubilee Year, let us resolve to equip ourselves with:

  • Working knowledge of AI-assisted research tools
  • Data analytics skills for compliance verification
  • Understanding of digital evidence and forensic trails
  • Awareness of AI governance and ethical frameworks

The profession is entering an era where advisory will be strategy-driven, technology-enabled, and insight-based.

Strengthening Professional Preparedness Nationwide:

As we navigate a rapidly evolving professional landscape, I urge all Zones and Regions to consciously prioritise programmes focusing on innovation, technology in taxation, Artificial Intelligence in practice management, data analytics, and digital compliance systems. The future of our profession will increasingly depend on our ability to understand and effectively utilise and implement the technological tools that are transforming tax administration and advisory services.

I encourage every Zonal and Regional leadership team to design webinars, workshops, seminars, and training initiatives that equip members with practical knowledge in these emerging areas of professional importance. Special emphasis may be placed on empowering young professionals to lead technology adoption within their firms and chambers, while senior members would provide guidance rooted in experience, ethics, and sound professional judgment.

The enduring strength of our Federation lies in this harmonious blend of innovation and wisdom — where experience guides technology, and technology enhances experience.

Golden Jubilee – Inspiring the Next 50 Years:

As we progress through this historic year, our focus must gradually move from celebration to institution building. The Golden Jubilee is not merely a remembrance of five decades — it is a blueprint for the next fifty years. We must ask ourselves pointed questions on:

  • How do we strengthen professional ethics in a technology-driven world?
  • How do we safeguard taxpayer rights amidst algorithm-based assessments?
  • How do we contribute to policy advocacy in an era of rapid digitisation?
  • How do we bring advisory capabilities in a digital driven economy?
  • How do we upskill, re-skill, unlearn and learn in this turbulent professional era?

The answers lie in collaboration among peer groups, networking with professional firms, collective dialogue, research-based representations, and sustained academic engagement.

The Journal – A Platform for Emerging Thought:

The AIFTP Journal must increasingly become a forum for discussion on technology in taxation, AI governance, digital audits, and comparative global practices. I invite members to contribute well researched articles, case analyses, and practical insights on emerging technological developments affecting tax practice. Let this Golden Jubilee Year document not only reflect legal changes, but also technological transformation.

A Call for Continuous Upskilling:

The governance ecosystem is becoming more transparent, data-driven, and system-oriented. Compliance is no longer form-based; it is analytics-based. Advisory is no longer reactive; it is predictive. Considering the role social media is playing, information is now available on every tax professional’s finger tips. I am amazed at the quantum of information available in the hands of every tax professional. I wonder, how does one understand, assimilate, decode and deliver tax advisory services? Therefore, I once again urge members to:

  • Upskill continuously
  • Embrace digital tools
  • Collaborate across disciplines
  • Uphold ethical standards in an AI-enabled environment

The future of tax practice belongs to those who combine knowledge, integrity, and technological competence.

About programs for the Month of March, 2026

There are number of programs lined up for the month of March, 2026 that are detailed in AIFTP Times.

I urge all members to attend these programs in large numbers and assimilate knowledge.

Conclusion:

While India moves forward with purpose, determination and progress, as tax professionals, I believe that we must move with resolve and responsibility. As we enter the final month of the financial year, let us reaffirm our commitment to academic excellence, ethical practice, professional unity, and preparedness for change.

Let us honour the vision of our founders by ensuring that the Federation remains progressive yet principled, adaptive yet rooted in values. The journey of fifty years has brought us here. The responsibility of shaping the next fifty now rests with us.

God bless each of you and your families!

With warm regards and best wishes,

CA S Venkataramani

National President
