Treks organized by various State Units of YHAI


Youth Hostels Association of India, Mizoram State Branch with the help of YHAI, New Delhi is organizing “Mizoram Trekking and Caving Expedition”. Mizoram is a land of the blue mountains, lies in southernmost outpost of North Eastern states. Neighbours Manipur, Assam and Tripura bound this tranquil little state but a part of it slips down between Myanmar and Bangladesh. Reporting dates are from 16th November to 25th November, 2007 (9 batches). Minimum age of participation is 15 years. Fees of Rs. 2,000/- will cover the stay at reporting camp Lungmaul Y.H., Aizawl, tented accommodation at higher camps, simple nutritious vegetarian food, transportation from bus stand to Base camp and last camp to Base Camp.

The schedule is as under:

Day 1 : Reporting at Luangmual Youth Hostel Aizawl
Day 2 : Sight seeing at Aizawl
Day 3 : Trek to Vaipuanpho (13 kms)
Day 4 : Trek to Ailawng (10 kms)
Day 5 : Trek to Dialdawk (15 kms)
Day 6 : Trek to Nghalchawm (9 kms)
Day 7 : Trek to Luangmual via Sinhmui (15 kms)
Day 8 : Camp breaks after breakfast

YHAI Malad Unit of Maharashtra Branch is organizing ‘Trek Sahyadri 2007 (Lonavala – Khandala Region)’. Reporting is on 16th November or 17th November, 2007 (2 batches). Minimum age of participation is 15 years. Fees of Rs. 1,425/- will cover accommodation and simple nutritious vegetarian food.

The schedule is as under:

Day 1 : Reporting at Karjat – Transfer to base camp at Karjat.
Day 2 : Bus from Karjat to Kondivede. Trek to Rajmachi Camp (8 kms) through Ulhas Valley. Visit Kondhana Caves on the way.
Day 3 : Visit twin forts of Rajmachi – Lake and temple sightseeing.
Day 4 :

Walk through Valvan village on the bank of Shirota Lake and climb on to the top of the Ekvira mountain and come down to Karla Caves to reach Ekvira Camp (14 kms).

Day 5 : Trek towards Village Bhaje and after visiting Bhaje Caves climb Fort Visapur and reach Lohgadwadi Camp (8 kms). Visit Fort Lohagad.
Day 6 : Climb down to the bank of Pawana dam and after three hours walk via Shivkhind reach Lonavala. Camp breaks.

YHAI, Jabalpur Unit is organizing “Jabalpur Pachmarhi & Pench Trekking Expedition, 2007”. The Trekkers will have close view of the tribes living in the deep valley of ‘Patalkot’, opportunity to visit jungle safari in Peneh, national forest, Cruise riding in the Bargi reservoir, sight seeing at Pachimari Hills, and Tamia, hot spring at Anhani and trekking to sarawati ghat through world famous marble rocks and Lamheta Ghat. Reporting dates are 30th September, to 3rd October, 2007 (4 batches). The minimum age of participation is 10 years. Fees of Rs. 1,590/- covers simple accommodation and simple nutritious vegetarian food. The charges of cruise riding, boating, sight seeing at Pachmari, jungle safari and additional charges will be borne by the participants. The trek is for seven days.
