Youth Hostels Association of India
is organizing the National Desert Trekking Expedition, 2007 in the Jaisalmer
region of the GREAT THAR DESERT of Rajasthan. The trek is for seven days. The
minimum age for joining this expedition is 15 years. The reporting dates are
from 11th Nov., 2007 to 21st Nov., 2007. The participation fee has been fixed at
Rs. 1700/-. This will cover 7 days stay, simple vegetarian meals, expert
guidance, insurance and equipment. Participants will bear the travel expenses to
Base Camp Jaisalmer and back to their homes. Base Camp for the programme is
established in the Border Home Guards Ground, Jaisalmer, which is 4 kms. from
Bus Stand and also 4 kms from Railway station. Jaisalmer is connected by train
service with Jodhpur. It is also connected by road with Jodhpur, Bikaner, Jaipur
and Ajmer.
